Many patients who wear eye glasses or contact lenses have a vision condition known as an astigmatism. An astigmatism may cause difficulties seeing depending on the severity. As the astigmatism worsens it can cause blurriness or impaired vision. The astigmatism is caused by an irregularity in shape of the cornea which doesn't allow for the best vision. The normal shape of a cornea is circular but a cornea with an astigmatism is elongated and more of an oval shape.
