Crystalens differentiates itself from the from a standard IOL because it is an accommodating intraocular lens, meaning it accommodates to your eye and the natural movement of your eye. Usually, a Crystalens IOL is implanted during cataract surgery to help decrease a patient's dependency on glasses following surgery. Crystalens was designed with the human eye in mind. The lens uses the eye muscles to flex and adjust, as a normal eye lens would. The Crystalens accommodates the patients vision needs by adjusting accordingly at either near, intermediate or far distances. Crystalens has the ability to drastically reduce a patient needs for glasses following their cataract surgery.

Crystalens is:

• The first and only FDA-approved accommodating intraocular lens
• The only FDA-approved intraocular lens that uses the natural focusing ability of the eye

Few patients with Crystalens have experienced problems with glare, halos and night vision. Crystalens focuses only one image to the back of the eye, unlike a multifocal lens that projects multiple images, requiring your brain to “adjust” to the differences.
